Orton-Gillingham Associate Level Training July 22 - 26 and July 29 - August 2, 2019 8:30am - 4:30pm daily

Why Orton-Gillingham? Widely held as the premier approach to educational intervention for individuals with dyslexia and taught by Fellows of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, the Orton-Gillingham training provides teachers and parents with knowledge and strategies to address the needs of students who struggle with written language.

Principles of Orton-Gillingham instruction

Nature and needs of dyslexic learners

Phonological awareness

Sound-symbol relationships

Syllable types and division patterns

Spelling rules and generalizations

Handwriting instruction

Reading fluency

Morphology

Integration of vocabulary & comprehension instruction

Structured, multi-sensory teaching techniques

Lesson plan development and delivery

Informal diagnostic-prescriptive assessment of reading, spelling, and handwriting
