Reading Basics Boot Camp for Rising 1st and 2nd Graders

(participants must complete Kinder or 1st Grade in the 2019 school year)

What Is Boot Camp?

Reading Basics Boot Camp is a time of fun, but intense, multi-sensory instruction in skills that are foundational to reading success. Particular emphasis is placed on building phonemic awareness and teaching letter/sound relationships to automaticity. Camp sessions will be led by Orton-Gillingham trained instructors. Each session is limited to 12 students.

Dates

  • Session One - June 18, 19, 20 and June 25, 26, 27

  • Session Two - July 9, 10, 11 and July 16, 17, 18

  • Session Three - August 6, 7, 8 and August 13, 14, 15

*A student must be able to attend all 6 lessons in a session. Students may register for one or more sessions. Sessions do not have to be concurrent.

Times

Classes will meet 9:30 - 11:30am at the Dyslexia Resource Center.

Cost

Tuition for Reading Basics Boot Camp is $175 for each session. We offer a sliding fee scale to all eligible families. Click on the link to complete a scholarship request for your student.

Other Requirements

All participants must have a completed informal assessment from the Dyslexia Resource Center. This information is necessary to plan instruction based on the specific needs of each student in the group. More information about the informal assessment process is available here.

How Do I Register?

New to the Dyslexia Resource Center? Please complete the Request for Services form and choose Summer Reading Programs. We will be in touch to schedule your child for an informal assessment as soon as possible.

Already a Dyslexia Resource Center family? Send an email to info@dyslexiasc.org with the subject line - Summer Boot Camp Registration. Include your child’s name and the session(s) for which you would like to reserve a space. Our staff will be in touch to follow up as soon as possible.
